While we were things that crawled ashore in the morning of the Earth
They were watching, they had seen
What we would be, they had been
And made and done, known all this and more, dead and gone before our birth

But behold the wonders that they wrought before their night engulfed them
What was unseen they could see
Both Time and Space bent the knee
The laws of nature could stop them not, singing their strange anthem

Their long-lost voice now silent lays, their stories are all untold
Doom they made and doom remains
Nothing left of them but stains
Buried by time, their legacy stays a trap for the fool and the bold

For ages long and geologic they reigned among the stars
But all things fall, for all must
Their wonders are now all dust
And lest we think this was tragic, know this story will be ours
